Just wondering if this will be a usable tool in the coming weeks as I have an idea for a turning project that would require a large drum sander.
I want to do a large (>18") segmented platter and would need to evenly sand the glued-up rings.
I'm sure you guys are all busy with other projects but I was just looking to get an idea if this was something on the priority list for Feb, March or whenever.
I'm guessing that having it around might also take some pressure off of the planer, for when only a minor resurfacing is needed.

Is Corel Draw the only software used for the laser Cutting Machine?
will there be a christmas tree stand class this year?
Once you complete an SBU, how long does that "SBU certified status" (?) last? Is it good for the life of the techshop, or the membership period, or some other period of time?
I can usually find my way around most software, but drawing programs like Corel often seem to leave me feeling lost. Probably because I have no design training.
I'm trying to etch images along the rim of some platters I have been turning, like this one...
I know how to bend text on a curve or circle, but how do you do it with an image or artwork?
My search attempts have been fruitless, likely because I don't know the terms I should be using. What help I did find seems to assume a greater knowledge of Corel than I have attained.
Any pointers, especially step-by-step instructions, would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I don't have time to take the metal lathe class before I need to complete a project, so am looking for someone that would be willing to lathe a few millimeters off the diameter of a hollow aluminum tube. The total length of the tube is about 3 feet, but the section to be lathed would just be 5-6 inches. Would anyone be willing to take this on for say 10 dollars?
Are there any classes or restrictions regarding the sandblasting cabinet? I've never used on before so I need some guidance. Does TechShop supply the blasting medium? Is an SBU required? Where is the cabinet kept?

Hello there,
My daughters' favorite toy is a mechanical pony they can ride on called a "Giddyup N' Go" pony (made by Little Tikes). When you hop up and down on the saddle, it activates a spring mechanism to move the pony forward (its "hooves" are actually inline-skate-looking wheels). Anyway, the saddle is bolted to a metal piece that appears to be a square-shaped hollow steel post, welded to some kind of base that bolts to the rest of the mechanics.
Long story short, the post has become detached from the base that it was welded to, so now the saddle tilts so far to the side as to become unusable. I called the company and they don't offer replacement parts for this pony.
To me, this is a simple metalworking job for someone with access to tools and the knowledge to use them, which excludes me, sadly.
So, is there anyone here who might be willing and able to help me with this? I'd be more than happy to take plenty of pictures of the piece and post them for review and give the unusable piece to whomever might want to try and copy it into a usable form.

What's the process to use the bead blasting cabinet? I have a couple metal frames I would like to clean up before repainting. They are currently painted, but it's pealing off in many places.
Thanks,
Mike
Hello.
Do you sell Arduino? If so, how much does it cost? If no, do you not know where I can buy Arduino locally near the Raleigh/Durham area?
Thanks in advance.
