I purchased a membership gift card for a friend last week. I just now looked at the back and it says the card expires (for the month of membership) at the end of June - what's up with that? Is this true, or has this been extended due to the delay in reopening?
I think it means that the
I think it means that the membership must be activated by the end of the June.
You have until the end of
You have until the end of July to activate the membership and use the two classes that are attached to the card.
Wait, is this just the recent
Wait, is this just the recent grand re-opening cards or are you saying the same for the certs from the State Fair sale? I could swear I knew those were a year expiration.
So maybe the folks at the
So maybe the folks at the front should mention this. I got mine thinking my friend would have a while to decide when to use it. It's kinda a sucky gift if I'm like, "here, but you have to use it NOW".
The July 31st deadline
The July 31st deadline applies only to the Moving Sale/Grand Re-Opening cards (one membership, two SBUs), not to any other certificate.
The other certificate we sold during the Grand Reopening (good for one SBU), expire at the end of August.
And I was just informed by Scott that the State Fair gift certificates expired at the end of last year.
Dylan
Hold on a minute
Let's be sure before we post any possibly incorrect information. I told Dylan what I remembered, but it may not even be connected to what Otto is talking about. Let me explain.
We sold memberships that were to be activated by the end of the year. That is what I was referring to when I said they expired at the end of the year. The class gift certificates, I do not remember what the deal was, so what Dylan just posted is what I said, but doesn't apply to what they were talking about in the first place.n Confusing enough? We will check into it and let you know for sure.
We also sold Membership Tickets from some time in December to June 1. Since we were closed for four months and we wanted to offer something good at our Grand Re-Opening party, we decided to extend the expiration date to the end of July so we could still sell them. It was our intent to notify everyone of this when we sold them and we did pretty good. Most everyone got the information. But evidently not everyone did.
The $19.95 class specials that we recently sold at the Grand Re-Opening must be used in June, July and August. That's three months. We figured that should be plenty of time.
Certainly anyone who has any problems with these dates can contact us. We don't want anyone thinking this is a sucky gift. You will likely find we are more than fair about refunds or making special adjustments where we feel there has been a misunderstanding. We are a small, new company that will certainly make mistakes. While the terms were posted and we thought we had made it all very clear, evidently we did not get the info communicated effectively in every instance. Come to us and we will work it out. Whether we refund or extend or whatever, our goal will be to have satisfied customers.
I don't know what the State Fair Gift Certificates had as expiration dates. If anyone still has these, come talk to us and we will see what we can do.
Thanks,
Scott
Scott, I still have some, no
Scott,
I still have some, no printed expiration date. Will catch up with you sometime this week... tomorrow if you're at the shop.
Whew

Nope... didn't get the info, but glad I saw this thread! I was just looking for a second freebee class to squeeze in before the end of June. Good to know I have a little more time to further procrastinate. ;)
Class List?
Does anyone have the list of "free classes" that go with the $39 membership? I just signed up for my first class (Laser Cutting & Etching SBU) and was trying to figure out what I could do for the second one. I know the ShopBot classes are *not* included but I was wondering if the Woodshop SBU might be.
Is it the same list as the state fair special was? (I was able to find that list in my email.) That list was
* Laser Cutting & Etching SBU
* Precision Vector Laser Cutting of Printed Material from a Digital File
* General Metal Shop SBU
* Metal Lathe SBU
* Milling Machine SBU
* Sheet Metal SBU
* Vacuum Former, Heat Press, & Strip Bender SBU
* CNC Embroidery SBU
* Janome 3050 and Singer 20u Professional Sewing Machine SBU
* CNC Vinyl Cutter SBU
* MIG Welding SBU
* Stick Welding (SMAW) SBU
* TIG Welding SBU
* SawStop and Miter Saw SBU
* Introduction to Soldering
Thanks much!
Looks right to me
Yup, that's the list. Not the whole Wood Shop SBU, but the SawStop and Miter Saw SBU is on the list
