...the Delta jointer was broken/didn't work. I assumed the motor was shot or something. Is setup the only problem??? If so, I'm almost positive I can get someone who knows what they're doing to come out and align the tables and set the knives. If it's more than just setup, I'm still pretty sure I can get someone to come look at it and make a diagnosis.
EDIT-- Oh. I just saw you said 8" jointer. The Delta is 6". Is the 8" the Rockwell? I haven't even seen that one. Same question still...
The Delta was a loan and we set it up ourselves. It was fine and other than someone trashing the blades, it was fine until it went back to its owner when we moved. I hope to be able to sharpen or replace the blades for this one some time soon.
The Rockwell needs some of my time. I have ordered and received the special little bolts and tooling to machine the knife holders. I have received the drawings from Rockwell so I can make the holders. I have located and need to order knives.
I should be able to do this in the next few weeks.
An accurate and easy to use magnetic jig for setting up a jointer that allows the knives to be set in minutes rather than hours can be made quickly and inexpensively .
I installed the new transformer in the control box today and ran the Jointer for the first time. What a wonderful machine! Quiet, powerful and a full 8" wide.
If you use this tool, please turn off the main power switch on the control box every time you walk away from it. I bet that is why the old transformer was bad. People would stop it and not shut down the power and the transformer would sit there forever with power applied.
When I took the SBU, I was told...

Thanks, Scott.
I'll take the Delta off the wiki.

I'm confused is there a working jointer that needs tuning or is the only one the one needing parts made?
There's no working jointer...
The only one we have now is the Rockwell... it needs parts.
