questions before i join

hey guys im working on my mechanical engineering degree, and i already have had college level classes on how to run all the metal working equipment. would i still need to take all your classes as well? i already have all my designs done, and cuts plotted. i just need to load the gcode and cut.

JC

SBU courses

JC,

Yes, you will still need to take the classes. Our insurance requires it and we need to make sure you understand how things are done at TechShop as well.

I had owned a machine shop when I first walked into TechShop and had to take the classes. It was worth it to me. My first projects repaid me all membership and SBU fees. I still think TechShop is a great deal.

Thanks,

Scott

JC, Hope you decide to join.

JC,

Hope you decide to join. I know it's a pain to have to retake things you probably already know, but think about it this way: Would you want to be working in a machine shop with people that only claim to know what they're doing? Making everyone take the SBU is a good policy and makes it safe for everyone.

I can just imagine someone getting their head knocked off by some goober leaving the chuck in the lathe head.
