My printer uses water-based dyes and can go up to 44" wide. It wouldn't work on vinyl without a special coating. A solvent or UV printer is probably your best bet for this project.

If your source provides files that are 300dpi at 8" x 12" or so (typical DSLR), you're not going to have 300dpi of resolution in that file printing 4' x 6'. Beware the common pitfalls of misusing "DPI" as a unit of measurement without understanding exactly what that means for your source media and scaled to its final destination.

Can you print 300dpi
Can you print 300dpi photographs (or higher ideally) on transparent material of any kind?
yes
I can go up to 1440 dpi, and although I haven't tried it yet, it should work on transparent polyester film.
