Interested in classes - but first a few questions

I just heard of you guys - great idea to start this kind of business! I'd like to learn how to work with metal (CNC, Lathe, etc) to the point where I can make my own rifle parts/receivers. Is this something I can do using the equipment at your facility? Thanks in advance!

think so

there is a metal lathe, milling machine, …as well as a bunch of other stuff in the metal shop.

Needs and legality

What tools are required? Are you making parts that are legal? Those are the two questions. I know of a few guys interested in guns, but do not know if any are qualified to answer the question accurately.

As far as TechShop is concerned, as long as you are not making parts for fully automatic weapons, we're OK with it. The only thing left is whether we have the equipment you need. The answer to that is probably, but if you can be more specific it would help.

Thanks,

Scott

Semi-auto only here. For an

Semi-auto only here. For an AK-47 just to make the receiver I need to be able to first fabricate one from a piece of flat steel, cut out the pattern, drill holes where indicated, fold, tack-weld the guide rails into place, some riveting, and the other items (barrel etc etc) I can buy as part of a parts kit. I'm really only interested in making the receiver by hand. You can get an idea of what I'm trying to do here: http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2005/souptonuts1/index.asp

No problem

I see no problem with your project. Bring it on.......

Thanks,

Scott
