We are very pleased to announce to all our friends in the Durham area that we are opening TechShop Durham!

Scott Saxon, the TechShop Durham Founder, the Staff and Instructors invite all potential TechShop members and "makers" from Raleigh, Durham and surrounding areas to join them for the "TechShop Durham Grand Opening Celebration". You'll have the chance to check out the tools and machines and talk with Scott and some of the Staff and Instructors that will be working there to help you "Build Your Dreams".

There will be free food and drinks from Noon until 6PM. Food will be from Mama Mia's Restaurant.

We will be here from 10AM to 10PM so you can check it out and see how much we have done to get TechShop Durham ready for you.

There will be a few demonstrations during the day:

• One, on the incredible Saw Stop table saw that stops almost instantly if you touch the blade with your finger. There will only be one demonstration at 4PM in the woodshop.
• The ShopBot will be running a lot of the day and you can get your name on a small plaque to take home with you.
• See our new Epilog Laser cutter.
• If you bring something to sew on, like a shirt, pair of pants or a hat, we will demonstrate the embriodery machine and you can take home a personalized something. So be sure to bring something to sew on.
• Sorry, no Welding, heavy machining or cutting demonstrations during this time for safety reasons.

In fact, this event will be safe for people of all ages, so bring your whole family. If you can come please RSVP above to let us know.

We have spent a long time building TechShop Durham, but now it is up to you because it is nothing without members. Now is the time to purchase your Monthly, Semi-Annual or Annual Membership at the Charter Membership rates. After we open, the prices will go up, but remember, if you purchase a membership now, and keep it current, you can lock in the Charter Membership rates forever. Some have asked and YES, you may switch from monthly to annual and back any time you like as long as you stay current. You can buy your membership now and lock in that rate by going to our Memberships Page.

TechShop will open for business 7 days a week, from 10AM to 10 PM starting on Monday March 23, 2009. We will expand those hours as the membership grows and hope to be open 24-7 in the near future.
